Avalex to Provide DVRs and Displays to BOND Helicopters
Gulf Breeze, FL – January 7, 2015 – BOND Helicopters Europe awarded Avalex Technologies Corporation a contract to supply front and rear mission displays and mission/evidential video recorders for the UK’s National Police Air Service (NPAS) EC135-T2 mid-life upgrade program.
With an initial contract for seven (7) helicopters, Avalex will supply three displays for each platform. Installed in the front cockpit will be an Avalex AVM4128Q ruggedized widescreen quad display. Measuring 12.1 inches this high definition display offers 1280 x 800 resolution. In the rear cabin will be two (2) Avalex AVM4178Qs. These are 17.3 inch ruggedized widescreen quad displays with 1920 x 1080 native resolution. Both displays support NTSC, PAL, and STANAG 3350 standard definition video, SMPTE-292M, SMPTE-424M Level A high definition video, as well as VGA and DVI signals. The displays offer presentation modes including picture in picture, split screen, and QUAD view. Front panel bezel buttons control the power, dimming, selection of sources, presentation mode, and menu selection. Avalex has been part of a working team, along with CarteNav, Helimedia, Bond and NPAS to determine the optimum bezel button layout to ensure simplistic operational use of the mission equipment including remote control of evidential recording, map functions and microwave downlink.
Avalex will also provide three (3) 5th generation Digital Video Recorders. The AVR8414 digital video recorder is capable of recording up to five (5) channels simultaneously to both internal and portable memory devices, including SATA, SD and USB for ease of storage and video analysis. The recorders also feature audio and metadata recording, playback while record and Ethernet video streaming.
